Dathan is a board certified dermatologist in Phoenix, Arizona. He completed his undergraduate training in Chinese Studies/Philosophy at Calvin College in Michigan, obtained his medical doctorate at University of Arizona, completed a preliminary year at the Department of Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSU) in Columbus, Ohio, and completed his training in Dermatology in the Division of Dermatology at OSU.
He was appointed the Chief Resident of Research for the Division of Dermatology at OSU from 2017-2018. He is the co-author of 2 textbook chapters on rubber and metal allergy and he has authored over 40 publications. Dr. Hamann currently serves as the medical director for the Contact Dermatitis Institute in Phoenix, Arizona and is starting a new general dermatology practice in Fall 2018.
Dr. Hamann is known nationally and internationally for his work in the field of contact dermatitis and latex sensitivity. Dr. Hamann received his medical degree from Loma Linda University, where he interned in Preventive Medicine. Dr. Hamann is passionate about diagnosing allergic contact dermatitis as demonstrated by his work at the Contact Dermatitis Institute and by his commitment to educating other health care providers. He is the author of dozens of articles published in peer-reviewed dental and medical journals and has contributed chapters to dermatology text books. He is also active in clinical research. His passion is for solving health issues and helping people to resume normal lives.
Dr. Hamann has been an invited lecturer at many regional, national, and international medical conferences and is Co-Medical Director of the Annual Hands-On Patch Test Training held in Tempe, Arizona.
Dr. Hamann is an authority on latex and rubber-based allergies and patch testing for contact dermatitis. He helped introduce the use of left/right fitted gloves to dental practitioners to address the widespread problem of repetitive motion injuries. He is also an expert in infection control products, sold through his health care supply business, SmartPractice.
Dr. Hamann lives in Phoenix with his wife, Beth Hamann and their 6 children.
Joy is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a nursing background in oncology and asthma/allergy research. Before joining SmartHealth, she provided primary care to a low income urban community, managing urgent needs and chronic conditions for a diverse patient population.
Joy is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona College of Nursing and assists NP students with their clinical training. She is on the Executive Board for the Arizona Nurse Practitioner Council. In addition, she is a licensed Zumba! and Zumba Gold instructor as well as a certified Cancer Exercise Trainer.
Promoting wellness through physical activity and healthy eating is Joy’s passion, and she models healthy behaviors by keeping as active as possible, with a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports and activities; her favorite is horseback riding on her little mare Angel. She has lived blissfully in Arizona since 2010 after escaping the cold and ice of the upper Midwest.
Brisheida is the Contact Dermatitis Institute's attentive Medical Assistant. She's skilled in phlebotomy, has the ability to work with multiple providers in different specialties, and is quick on her feet. When Brisheida isn't in the clinic, she enjoys watching movies, baking, building legos, and spending time with her family and friends.
Sasha is the Contact Dermatitis Institute's Office Coordinator. She keeps everything running smoothly and is a valuable member of the team.
When Sasha isn't helping patients and staff with a wide variety of needs, she writes, sings, and loves spending time with her kids.
